Sustainable Education

Girls Education Program:  To ensure quality education for the girls from the most deprived section of the community Mijwan Welfare Society runs Shri Kaifi Azmi Girls Inter College at Mijwan village. It’s a school from the 9th -12th class and offers admissions to the girls from the most disadvantaged community (mainly daily wage earners). At present, there are 312 girls from about 10 villages are studying in this school. As of March 2020, more than 6000 girls have passed out from this school and many of them are pursuing higher studies and doing work in different sectors.

with the COVID-19 situation, lockdown, and challenges with opening schools, Shri Kaifi Azmi Girls Intercollege, Mijwan village (India) has adopted a new model of teaching RNSF-Record-Notes-Share and Feedback model where the school has created an online platform on one drive. Teachers every day record their sessions makes notes and upload it and the link of this one drive is shared with all the students who have smartphones. On the one hand, they can go on the link, listen to the recordings, and go through the teachers’ notes. After which they can also share their feedback on the link. On the other hand, for those students from families that don’t have smartphones, teachers are reaching them with their handwritten notes, books and are also assisting them through phone calls at an allocated time to clear their doubts. This helps students continue their education even during the lockdown period. The RNSF model works well and possibly a good solution for rural schools in India.

With the education program Mijwan Welfare Society address United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education.

Girls For Girls Programme

The Girls for Girls (G4G) initiative is a significant step towards promoting educational and cultural exchange between female students of Mijwan Welfare Society and St. Xaviers School Phoolpur Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh. This exchange program aims to provide the students with ample opportunities to learn and grow by participating in various activities, such as presentations on interesting topics, drawing and sports competitions, and mentoring sessions.

Girls For Girls ProgrammeOne of the key objectives of the Girls for Girls initiative is to foster lifelong friendships among the female students of both schools. These friendships will provide them with a support system that will not only encourage them to pursue their professional goals but also help advance gender equality in our society. By engaging in such exchange programs, the girls will learn about each other’s culture, customs, and traditions, and appreciate the diversity that exists within our society.

Furthermore, the Girls for Girls initiative provides an unique platform for both schools to share their ideas, values, thoughts, and knowledge. Through this exchange program, the students will have the opportunity to interact with each other and gain a better understanding of the world around them. It will not only strengthen the bond between the two institutions but also contribute to building a more inclusive and tolerant society.

As a part of this initiative, St. Xaviers’ girl students will visit Sri Kaifi Azmi girl’s Inter College (SKAGIC) twice a month, where they will interact with students and learn about the embroidery centre’s work and artisans associated with MWS. Small groups of 5-6 girls will participate in group discussions and activities. The one-hour dedicated for each visit and ensuing discussions is a testament to the commitment of both schools towards creating a meaningful impact on the lives of the students and promoting an empathy-focused approach towards education.
